My Big Man's first day of Preschool...
So today was the big day! Today was my big man's first day of preschool. Wow! How did we get here? Where did the time go? How did he get to be so grown up? Wasn't it JUST yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital? Wasn't it just last week he toddled across the living room floor for the first time? And now he's doing things like riding his bike all by himself (with training wheels of course!), having conversations with us, and developing a mean fashion sense! ;) Just this morning when I asked him which shirt he'd like to wear he choice his pink polo. My boy's got taste, what can I say?! =)
So drop off was a little rough. He wasn't feeling at his best and is getting a cold. He was crying before we got into his classroom and didn't want me to put him down. We all walked in, I showed him wear to put his new yellow water bottle, and told him we'd come back to pick him up very soon. Still not wanting to get down I handed him over to Mrs. Danielle and off we went, leaving him wimpering and reaching for us. I didn't cry. I knew he wanted to be there. He WAS excited before we pulled into the parking lot!
Three short hours later I was back to pick him up. He was waiting and ready and completely melted into my arms, trying not to cry. His teacher said he did "Awesome" and "Is SUCH a good listener." My heart swelled with pride! Teaching him to be respectful is on the top of our list of priorities. I couldn't have been more proud of him. So all went well, as we knew it would.
We got in the car and I asked him how his day at preschool went. He put his little hands in the air and said "No choo choo train there." He was so insistent that they'd have a choo choo train, but well, sorry Yums...it's Montessori!! He's been repeating that phrase all night! I'm guessing he asked his teacher for a train and that's what she told him! Anyway, he said he had fun and that he wants to go back tomorrow. Unfortunately, there's a hurricane that is putting a damper on all our plans. Hopefully Wednesday...
