BASEBALL!!!

And Yes, I'm screaming!!! I'm just so excited!! I remember lying in bed with Patrick, barely pregnant with Yums, dreaming and talking about how we secretly wished for a boy and Saturdays spent at the baseball fields! Today was our first Saturday spent at the baseball fields!! =D

After football didn't exactly work out all that well for Yums, we were quite apprehensive about signing him up for T-ball. Technically we could have signed him up last year, but I'm so glad we waited. He was definitely ready this year! He absolutely LOVES baseball, and is really quite good at it!! He surprised us with how well he could catch the ball...until he accidentally got hit in the cheek. Since then he's been a bit fearful of it, but he's getting better!!

Today was his first game and he did GREAT! Somehow he managed to snag the "#1" jersey (he was bummed...he wanted 4), which we found out today means he gets to bat first! He started the game off with a great hit....all ball, didn't hit the tee or anything! Made it to first base no problem! The 3 kids after him had great hits as well, and he was the first of the game to make it across home plate!

They had time for 4 innings during their allotted hour of play time. He played right field, short-stop, second base, and center field...I think! ;) He also got on base with each hit (they aren't allowed to take more than one base in t-ball) and came home each time! He was SO proud of himself, it made me cry! After the game during huddle, the coach gave him the game ball (see, being #1 has other advantages too!)! The look on his face was PRICELESS!! He kept saying "I got the trophy, I got the trophy!" There I go, crying again just thinking about it!

We got in the car after the game and he said "I am just so proud of myself! Jesus helped me hit good and run fast!" I'm sure he will, but I hope that he never loses that attitude when it comes to sports. We just kept telling him how proud we were that he tried his best, paid attention, and used building up words with his friends. He's competitive enough without our egging him on! ;) I'm so happy he loves baseball so much, and again, secretly hope he sticks with it for years and years to come!
