My Little Sand Crab
Oh, the fun we had today!!! Holly and I decided to be brave mamas and drive our kiddos out to Cocoa for a day at the beach. Our friend Tiffany and her daughter Payton were supposed to join us, but little Payton came down with a cold. :( Our boys, however, were full of energy and raring to go! William was absolutely GREAT on the hour and a half drive out even though it was nearing naptime. We got to the beach, loaded the kids up in the wagon and the stuff in the cooler and set off for the sand. Once we reached it, though, we wished we could just turn back. How can two toddlers and some ice weigh so dang much?! Or maybe they just seem to weigh more when you're dragging them through soft sand...
The kids were ecstatic to have such a huge sandbox, and Kolton was even more excited to see the ocean. William...not so much. He loved the "wa wa" but only after I went and filled his bucket up with it...over and over and over again. I made him his first sand castle...which he quickly smashed...and attempted to introduce the whole concept of collecting shells. It seemed, though, that William's favorite activity was simply putting sand on WILLIAM! Or anyone else in the near vicinity... He was in such a good mood and acted like such a little comedian the entire time. Dancing, singing, and jumping around...causing onlookers to comment on how cute he was. His huge mohawk didn't hurt the compliments either... We even had one woman stop us on the way out to tell us how much she enjoyed watching William. I'm telling ya, that kid will do anything for a laugh...
After almost 3 hours later, lots of snacks (all covered in sand), and a poopy diaper we decided to head out. Holly and I barely made it dragging the kids back through the sand. William barely made it two lights down the road before calling it quits. Kolton wasn't too far behind him. Overall, the day was a major success and probably the most fun I've had with him in a while! Lets hope tomorrow's Science Center trip with Aunt Dee Dee will be just as successful!!!
