Spring Break in Daytona just isn't the same...

...with a one year old! Mostly because when we used to go to Daytona Beach in college we actually hung out ON the beach!

Patrick was working in Deland last Monday so we decided to make the best of it and head up to the beach on Sunday and get a hotel for the night. We stayed at the Daytona Beach Resort and Conference Center specifically because they had a GREAT kiddie pool that was right on the beach! (Reminds me of when Mom and Dad used to take us to Daytona or Cocoa and would always pick a hotel with a pool that had a slide...you know, the ghetto blue ones that used to entertain kids?! ;))William was nervous about the mushroom water fountains at first but got brave enough to go up close to them when a twenty-something year old girl in a bikini walked by. He made huge strides in the water, putting his mouth in and blowing bubbles and even laying on his belly where it was shallow enough and scooting all around the pool. He still isn't at all fond of the "big pool". Whenever I would take him in he would sign "all done" and tell me "buh buh buh bye"! He didn't seem to mind jumping into the hot tub without mommy and daddy, though! He sunk to the bottom, but Patrick grabbed him as he was pushing himself up to the top. He didn't get upset or anything... That's the interesting thing about the pool...going under doesn't upset him, just the act of BEING in the pool!

He thought it was a lot of fun, though, to come behind Mama and push me into the pool. He'd tell me "Mama...Wawa" meaning "Get in here NOW...please!" He also thought it was great fun to put his head in front of the water fountains and let the water spray his hair! William had his first virgin strawberry daiquiri on this trip too. Well, I can't say he actually had it...he wanted nothing to do with it once we got it for him. He wanted my margarita so bad that I had Patrick go get him his own strawberry slushy drink. Nope, not what he wanted...he wanted Mama's simply for the fact that it was MAMA'S!!!

Holly, Matt and Kolton came up to play at the beach on Monday while Patrick was working. Kolton was doing great jumping into the pool and swimming back and forth between mom and the side. He even got creative and started doing little dances before jumping in. William thought the dances were mimic-worthy and is still imitating them a week later! We all had a great time and, despite being rained out in the afternoon, left saying that we need to do this more often!
