Proudest Mommy Moment To-Date

So Yums is probably the most obstinate person I know...well, at least a close runner-up to his father and me! Typically when it's time to pray at meals he simply doesn't want to because it's the opposite of what we're asking him to do. That being the case, once we start praying he angrily tells us he wants to pray and will pray with us. Today at lunch was nothing new! Except he told us "No pray...that's MY job." So I told him "Okay, if you want to pray, go ahead." Here's what he said...

"Dear Jesus.....Dear God...Thank you for our food. Amen."

Talk about trying to hold yourself together in the middle of Chili's! He's prayed with us before, or repeated what we've said, but this was his first time ever praying without us. My mommy heart was swollen with pride!!

Then...later that night...we let him watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Now he walks around telling us "I'm ANGRY...I'm the Grinch...my heart is too small....I need Jesus to come live inside my heart...but I'm ANGRY."

Sigh....

Kristi that is so cute. I remember when my son said his food. It was at my MIL's with a bunch of family there. I was shocked he would even speak in front of a big crowd and even more so when he decided to pray. In his southern drawl he said " Dear Lord, Bless the mashed potatoes....". It was really hard not to burst out laughing. We still talk about it.. that is a happy memory! Thanks for sharing this, it brought back some good thoughts :)
