Tomorrow's the Big Day!!
He starts Pre-K3. Last year was sort-of a warm up, I suppose, as he really was too young for the program but they took him anyway. This is official, though!! New school, new uniforms, new, haircut, new (super strict) policies (READ: new haircut!)... Mr Man couldn't be more excited, though! Today at church he even asked to keep walking past his Sunday School to Ms. Wilkes classroom to see if she was there! Even at orientation the other night he was asking us to leave!
A funny story from orientation that I MUST write down or I will soon forget...
After Ms Wilkes gives her spiel about what is expected, what the year will look like, she asks if anyone has any questions. This, of course, was directed at parents, as the kids were either too busy crying or sucking on lollipops to even care that she was talking. Well, wouldn't you know, my child shoots his little hand up and says "Me! Me! I have a question!" We were sitting in the back, and out of Ms Wilkes' sight, so I told William to go closer and ask his question. I have to admit, I was quite curious to find out what was so urgent that he just had to ask her right then!
Ms Wilkes asked if there were any more questions, and I told her that William had one. So he begins... "Sometimes...my don't like sleeping in my bed all night long..." At this point he was looking at the ground and starting to mumble, but I could tell what his actual question was. He asked his new preschool teacher if he had to stay in his bed all night long! She didn't quite understand, and assured him there was no naptime during class, but I think Mommy may need to coach her a little on how to answer him if this question comes up in the future! YES, WILLIAM...you NEED to stay in your bed ALL.NIGHT.LONG!!!
Anyway, in an effort to record exactly what he looked like as he embarks upon this next little journey, I took him back to the same spot I took him last year at this time for a few photos. I just cannot get over how much of a change has taken place in him in just 12 short months. It breaks this mama's heart to realize how much her baby boy has grown up. And makes me miss the long hair even MORE because it kept him looking more 3 than FIVE.
Last year HERE and HERE
And yesterday...

And just for comparison...
