Hair today...gone tomorrow
It happened...much earlier in life than I thought it would...William got something caught in his hair. And not just in his hair...all the way up to his scalp. Just like any other morning, William was playing with his battery-operated Thomas the train. Sometimes we'll turn it on and have it ride on his leg or down his arm, but for some reason he thought it would be fun to see if it would ride on his head. Note to all toddlers out there who are reading this: Train on Head=NO FUN! Immediately his beautiful long hair wrapped itself multiple times around all three wheels while the train continue to run and the wheels continued to spin. As fast as I could I turned the train off, but it was too late. It was stuck! William got upset, but I couldn't tell if it was because his head hurt or because he wanted his train back...probably a little of both. I picked up my son, then picked up the phone to call his father (looking back, I have NO idea why I expected him to know what to do!), then picked up my camera! Come on, would you have expected anything less!?
As hard as I tried I couldn't get the hair to unravel from around the wheels. In tears, I got the kitchen scissors. I tried to cut as little as possible, but there was just no hope. The train was truly tangled up to his scalp. I had no idea how bad it was going to end up, but I had to cut it out completely. I got the train out and surveyed the damage...praise the Lord it wasn't as bad as it could've been. I wouldn' t have been heart-broken had we had to cut his hair short, but just that it would have showed the two very-bald spots on the right side of his head. I took him into the bathroom, wet his hair down as usual, and brushed it over like I do everyday. Hallelujah (sing with me!), the hair that was left covered it up! You can tell it's thinner on the right side than usual, but at least he's not bald! His thick, long hair has come in handy! Okay, but really, I guess it's what got us into this mess to begin with... And as if you couldn't guess what William did once the drama had subsided...he went back to the living room, grabbed Thomas, turned him on, and put it up to his head JUST as he did 10 minutes before. Really, William...mom's had enough for today!
The physical evidence...
