Day Five -- The Day of the CRUSH!!!

Oh, my son is just growing up too fast. But I have to say, he's growing up to be a pretty cool little kid!! Every person he's met here has declared him to be their "new favorite person!" The first day it was the Spring Breakers from NC State Univ, day two was 10 year old Travis and his sister, yesterday it was the kids from Rhode Island, and today...today was some random 11 year old girl whose name we never did quite figure out.

Yums spent the morning chasing Travis, his sister and friend around the beach and the pool. When 1:00 rolled around we told him it was time to go up for a nap. That must have really embarassed him, as he started yelling at us, telling us he was with "my friends." We finally got him away and upstairs, and he did in fact go straight down. When he woke up from his nap he shot right up and declared "GO SEE FRIENDS!!"

We headed back down to the pool and reunited with some people from W. Virginia who took a liking to Yums at the beginning of week. They're kids were all grown now and they had a BLAST playing with him. They got the biggest kick out of calling him Yummies and trying to get him to swim (he still won't get off the steps!). He spotted who we *think* he thought was Travis's sister playing in the other part of the pool and off he went. He chased this girl around EVERYWHERE. She couldn't have been more than 9 or 10, but Yums was insistent that she was there for HIM! She wasn't really into getting chased around by a 2 year old, though, but was nice to him. At one point she sat up on the side of the pool and Yums quickly sat down next to her. He scooted as close to her as he could get then leaned over and kissed her arm. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen him do...but seriously, where does he learn this stuff?! This morning when Travis introduced him to his sister and her friend he insisted on giving them hugs around their legs after saying hi!

Anyway, we called him over to us and asked him if the girl asked him to kiss her. He told us she had. Ahh...a lie! I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he probably didn't understand the question! ;) We then gave him a little lecture about how it's not really cool to kiss strangers. He seemed seriously confused! Oh, are we in for some trouble!! He went back to chasing his new girlfriend until she left for the day. He quickly changed gears and decided he was going to the beach. We called after him to wait as we got out of our chairs, and some female spring breaker in a bikini stopped to talk to him. That was ALL it took to have him chasing after her also. Down the steps, across the sand, all the way to the ocean he called out "Hey...wait for me!!!" What are we going to do with him?!

We're back in the room now trying to get Yums called down and getting packed up. I can't believe we have to come back tomorrow :( The past 5 days have gone by much too quickly. We checked into getting an earlier flight (since the high here tomorrow is only 70), but there isn't one. So...5:30pm we'll be heading out on the dreaded prop plane en route to Miami. Although I'll miss the relaxing and sunbathing, I miss my bed at home more!!! :)
